August 2015

Dear Village School Parents and Community Members,

As the days of our summer vacation draw to a close, it's our pleasure to welcome all students, staff, parents and community members to Village School for the new 2015-2016 School Year.  We're looking forward to a tremendous year ahead with many opportunities, successes and challenges for our students.

The first day of classes will be an orientation day for Kindergarten students on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

All other classes begin on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.  We'd like to invite students and their parents to our Grades 1-5 Open House 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2015.  At this time, families will be able to meet their child's teacher and hear about the year ahead.

At Village School, there will be numerous opportunities for parental involvement this year.  We envision this connection as intrinsic to the success of our home to school relationship.  In collaboration with administration, school staff, parents and the greater community, Village School will offer Partners In Education (PIE) Meetings featuring special presentations, as well as numerous other experiences to involve families in the fabric of our life at school.  Additionally, we welcome parent volunteers as a most positive resource and encourage you to seek opportunities to assist in classroom activities, as well as our school.

The Village School Parent Handbook:  2015-2016 will be posted electronically on the Village School Website at the beginning of school and is available in paper copy upon request.  We encourage parents to read and review this with their children.  In the coming days, you may also receive additional information around any procedural changes and an update on our philosophy at school on safe and responsible behaviors.

We're looking forward to an exceptional and positive year as we continue our fourth year in our new K-5 Village School   Our vision continues to be one of an inclusive learning community where all feel valued and connected, with student learning at the center.  On behalf of the entire Village School staff, we'd like to thank you in advance for your support.

We look forward to working with you and your child!

Sincerely,

Brian A. Porter, Principal
